Mariyam Hussain represents employees and employers in all employment-related matters, including employment discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliation claims; severance and pre-suit settlement negotiations; and individual, collective, and class action litigation over wage and hour violations.
Prior to joining the Law Office of Christopher Q. Davis in 2018, Mariyam Hussain spent three years working as a staff attorney at the New York City Commission on Human Rights, investigating and prosecuting civil cases involving discrimination, harassment, denials of reasonable accommodations, and retaliation before the City’s Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings. During her time at the Commission, Ms. Hussain was promoted twice. Previously, Ms. Hussain also worked at the Community Service Society of New York as a case handler. In this position, she served over five hundred clients and enforced New Yorkers’ health insurance rights through innovative, direct formal and informal advocacy, including written appeals, Medicaid fair hearings, and Medicaid fraud defense. Prior to this position, she worked as a volunteer attorney at Chicago Volunteer Legal Services. Ms. Hussain also has legal experience working at Blue Cross Blue Sheild and the Mossawa Center.
Ms. Hussain received both her Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Arts from DePaul University, and a Masters of Arts from the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies. She speaks fluent Urdu and Hindi, and is proficient in Gujarati.
